GSTC congratulates Khiri Travel on achieving GSTC Certification across all its operational destinations in Asia. Khiri Travel, a destination management company based in Southeast Asia, operating in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Sri Lanka, was officially certified on 18 December 2025 by Control Union, a GSTC-accredited certification body.
At Khiri Travel, sustainability is integrated across its operations through a structured approach that addresses environmental, social, and economic impacts. In its latest sustainability reporting, the company highlights efforts to improve resource efficiency, reduce waste, and limit environmental footprint across its destinations, while embedding responsible practices within its supply chain. Khiri Travel also states that it works closely with local partners and communities to support inclusive economic development, cultural preservation, and community well-being. These actions, as reported by the company, are guided by the GSTC Standards and are subject to ongoing monitoring and continuous improvement across all operational destinations.
“We congratulate Khiri Travel on this important achievement. It is encouraging to see how they are actively walking the path of sustainability by integrating the GSTC Standards into their operations. Achieving GSTC Certification across their destinations is a clear demonstration of their commitment to credible, transparent, and responsible tourism practices,” says Randy Durband, GSTC CEO.
Willem Niemeijer, CEO and founder of Khiri Travel, emphasized the operational significance of this achievement. «GSTC certification has given us a practical framework to move sustainability beyond policy statements and into everyday operations. The process helped align teams, identify gaps, and translate intent into action in a structured, measurable way. It reinforces that sustainability is not a side project, but an integral part of how we design products, work with communities, and run our business,” he said.
Sukhum Jarangdej, Sustainability Coordinator at Khiri Travel, added: «Achieving certification is a clear signal that Khiri’s office operations, partners, and suppliers are aligned with Khiri Travel’s vision and 4Cs framework of conservation, community, culture and responsible commerce.”
Khiri Travel’s commitment to sustainability is further evidenced by 14 staff members earning the GSTC Professional Certificate in Sustainable Tourism last year. Learn more about GSTC’s Sustainable Tourism Training Program here.
