During the event, So Young, GSTC Project Manager, presented on the importance of international sustainability certification and provided an overview of the GSTC Attraction Standard, including certification processes and timelines. This was followed by a hands-on workshop led by Professor Kevin Cheong from the Singapore Management University, which guided attraction operators through the implementation of the GSTC Attraction Standard and practical sustainable solutions across their operations.

“The questions from the audience indicated the Singapore attractions industry’s eagerness to be onboard and readiness to get started on their internal review and alignment processes,” said Professor Cheong.

Cherie Lee, Director, Lifestyle and Attractions, Singapore Tourism Board, also added, «The GSTC Attraction Standard is the first global sustainability standard designed for the attractions industry. Together with GSTC and our industry partners, we aim to encourage local attractions to enhance their sustainability practices and work towards internationally recognised sustainability standards.»

The event successfully drew around 50 industry professionals, facilitating valuable discussions on the practical application of the GSTC Attraction Standard. Attendees gained insights into global best practices and sustainable tourism solutions.

The collaborative atmosphere fostered meaningful exchanges between industry professionals, reinforcing the importance of sustainability in shaping the future of tourism attractions in Singapore and beyond.
