GSTC2025 Fiji Complimentary Post-Conference Tours

As part of the GSTC2025 Fiji program, we are pleased to offer a selection of post-conference tours on August 8th designed to immerse participants in the cultural, natural, and community stories of Fiji. These experiences provide a meaningful opportunity to explore the country’s diverse landscapes, unique traditions, and local initiatives in sustainable tourism. Each tour has been developed in collaboration with local partners to highlight the beauty of Fiji’s natural environments and the richness of its cultural heritage.

To join a complimentary tour on August 8th, participants must pre-register and select their preferred tour option in advance due to limited capacity in all tours. Once the tours are open for registration, participants will get instructions to register.

1) Fiji Culture Village

Discover the rich heritage of Fiji on this immersive cultural experience, where long-held traditions are proudly kept alive.

At the Fiji Culture Village in Nacaqara, Navo, Nadi, you’ll step into a lively community where Fijian culture remains vibrant and authentic. Explore traditional bure huts, each representing different aspects of the country’s diverse heritage: from fire lighting and pottery making to wood carving and mat weaving.

Meet local artisans who share the skills, customs, and stories passed down through generations, offering a genuine connection to Fiji’s history and way of life.

Time: 9:30 – 14:00 approx. (includes lunch)

2) Garden of the Sleeping Giant

Step into one of Fiji’s most serene natural sanctuaries with a guided visit to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, located just outside Nadi. Originally founded by actor Raymond Burr, this lush botanical garden is home to over 2,000 varieties of orchids and tropical plants. The tour offers a tranquil, scenic experience and is ideal for nature lovers and those looking to unwind after the conference. Participants will be split into smaller groups for a more personal journey through key areas, including the vibrant Gallery, a peaceful Jungle Walk, and a scenic Valley Stopover with sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.

3) Vavavi: A Traditional Fijian Culinary Experience (fully booked)

For travelers seeking an immersive cultural experience in Nadi, Vavavi offers a unique opportunity to explore the flavors and traditions of Fiji through a hands-on culinary journey. This authentic cooking experience takes participants deep into the heart of Fijian food culture, with a special focus on the traditional lovo — a method of cooking in an underground earth oven.

Guests will learn to prepare local staples like palusami, dalo, cassava, falawa, and fresh coconut milk, all while gaining insight into the local produce and culinary techniques that define Fijian cuisine. A local market tour adds depth to the experience, showcasing seasonal ingredients and the stories behind them.

  • Comfortable shoes. Preferably closed shoes, as you will be working around hot rocks and wood, in addition to walking around the Market.
  • Cool or comfortable clothing (Its very warm at the location). Preferably shorts or capri pants.

4) Great Sea Reef Coral Restoration Tour with Fiji Surf Co (fully booked)

Experience Fiji’s iconic Great Sea Reef through a unique conservation-focused tour. We begin with a Coral Block Tutorial at the Fiji Surf Co. Beach Warehouse on Sonaisali Beach, where you’ll learn how these nature-based structures help regenerate reefs and support marine biodiversity.

Weather permitting, we’ll head out by boat to visit live Coral Block Reef sites on the Great Sea Reef. Enjoy sightseeing, swimming, and snorkeling around vibrant reefs and nearby islands, with guides, gear, lunch, and refreshments provided.

This tour blends education and exploration — showcasing real solutions for ocean restoration.

Time: 8:00 – 16:30 (lunch is provided)

5) Naidiri Bio-diversity Park (fully booked)

Experience the intersection of culture, conservation, and community with a day-long journey to Naidiri Biodiversity Park. This immersive eco-tour offers a rare opportunity to participate in hands-on environmental activities while engaging deeply with Fijian village life. The day begins with a Sevusevu (traditional welcome ceremony), followed by a guided village tour and interactive sessions on coral and mangrove planting—critical components of Fiji’s coastal ecosystem restoration efforts. Guests will also enjoy snorkeling in nearby waters, a locally prepared village lunch, and an informative sustainability presentation led by the community team.

Time: 7:30 – 14:45 (lunch is provided)

Cultural Guidelines:

  • It is advised to wear tops with sleeves and skirts/pants that cover the knees
  • Sunglasses and hats should not be worn while in the village
  • Shoes must be removed before entering homes or the village hall
  • There will be basic amenities to wash with fresh water after the swimming/snorkeling activities before lunch

6) Nama Fiji

Nama Fiji is a sustainable beauty brand rooted in social responsibility. They empower rural Fijian women through training and employment, supporting the ethical harvesting of nama (sea grapes) in the Yasawa Islands. This hand-harvested seaweed regenerates naturally, preserving marine ecosystems.

7) Sabeto Tour

This tour offers a combination of scenic landscapes, cultural experiences, and local attractions, all in one itinerary. Travel by  coach with experienced guides and explore different locations in the Sabeto area.

The Vavavi Experience

Guests will join a local family in preparing food for a traditional lovo lunch. They will learn how to make palusami, prepare root crops, prepare and scrape coconuts, wrap proteins traditionally with banana and coconut leaves, all whilst learning about the Fijian way of life and culture. The experience also includes a guided market tour

Garden of the Sleeping Giant

The activity is more of an exploratory tour where guests are free to wander around the Garden, through the orchid display, past the lily ponds and around the forest via wooden floorboards and gravel paths. There is also a short hiking trail that leads to our “look out” point with breathtaking views of Nadi Bay and the Sleeping Giant range.

Tour guides are optional for those who want to know more about our orchids, plants, and trees.
