GSTC publishes its 2024 Annual Report
The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) has published its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting its ongoing efforts to advance sustainable tourism worldwide. The report showcases key milestones, strategic initiatives, and the organization’s continued commitment to shaping a more responsible and resilient tourism industry.

“Collaboration is at the heart of sustainable tourism. The 2024 Annual Report showcases how industry leaders, destinations, and organizations worldwide are aligning efforts to implement sustainability practices at their core. By working together, we amplify our impact and drive lasting change across the tourism sector. Let’s continue to build a more sustainable future and thrive together,” says Randy Durband, GSTC CEO.

The 2024 Annual Report details several significant milestones, such as the release of the GSTC MICE Standard, the GSTC Attraction Standard, the development of the new Standard for food service providers, and becoming an Association Member of the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and a member of the Inter-American Accreditation Cooperation (IAAC) among others. It also highlights advancements in key initiatives, including training programs and destination assessments, designed to enhance sustainability throughout the tourism sector.

Another key highlight of the report is GSTC’s commitment to integrity and ethical practices, reinforced last year with the introduction of its Zero Tolerance Policy, aiming to address critical issues affecting the tourism industry, such as child labor, human exploitation, discrimination, wildlife abuse, and the use of single-use plastics.

Looking ahead, the 2024 Annual Report outlines GSTC’s strategic priorities for the coming year, emphasizing the expansion of its educational programs and the strengthening of global partnerships. With a continued dedication to driving positive change, GSTC will continue to lead the global tourism industry toward greater sustainability.

“By embracing the GSTC Standards, we can ensure that tourism remains a force for positive change—benefiting communities, ecosystems, and future generations alike,” said Luigi Cabrini, GSTC Chair.
