Dr. Mihee Kang, GSTC’s Chief Assurance Officer, participated in the APEC Workshop on Land Use Planning for Sustainable Tourism, held on July 26–27, 2025, at the Songdo Convention Center in Incheon, Republic of Korea.

The workshop was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism of Peru within the framework of the Third Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM3) of the APEC Forum 2025. It convened government representatives, international experts, and stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss how land use planning can be effectively integrated into sustainable tourism strategies.

Dr. Kang contributed her expertise and insights, emphasizing the crucial role that land use planning plays in balancing economic growth with environmental protection, cultural heritage preservation, and the well-being of local communities. Her intervention highlighted the importance of the GSTC Standards, the global standards for sustainability in travel and tourism. 

The workshop not only created a platform for technical discussions but also reinforced the collaborative spirit among APEC economies, demonstrating the region’s shared commitment to promoting tourism as a driver of sustainable and inclusive development.
