GSTC Sustainable MICE Course

The GSTC MICE Course provides the knowledge and tools needed to help improve sustainability practices in the MICE industry. The course covers the GSTC MICE Standard (for Venues, Event Organizers, and Events & Exhibitions) , aiming to serve as the global sustainability standards for the industry and were created to provide a common understanding of sustainable tourism in the MICE industry throughout the world,  and offering best practices for MICE industry. This course has four main themes: effective sustainability planning, maximizing social and economic benefits for the local community, enhancing cultural heritage, and reducing negative impacts on the environment.

The GSTC MICE Course offers a convenient way to enhance your sustainability skills in a flexible online learning environment. You will learn alongside GSTC experts and fellow professionals in the MICE sector, gaining insights on how to implement sustainable practices with the global cases.

The course is designed to help you achieve tangible actions that align with the globally recognized standard of sustainability best practices, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable and responsible MICE industry.

GSTC Trainer

Francis Hong

Francis Hong is a seasoned expert in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry with over 15 years of experience in international business, tourism, and event management. He currently serves at the Suwon Convention Center, leading initiatives in conventions and exhibitions since 2019. Previously, he held various roles at the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, specializing in MICE and overseas marketing.

Mr. Hong holds a Master of Letters in International Business from the University of St Andrews, UK, where he graduated with distinction. He also studied in China and the United States, reflecting his global academic background. A frequent speaker at international forums—including ICCA and the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference—he actively contributes to Korea’s sustainable tourism and MICE education through advisory roles and lectures. His contributions have earned him multiple awards, including recognition from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism. He is also the author of Stories of Travel, Cities, and MICE Marketers, a book exploring the intersection of tourism marketing and city branding.

Stephanie Lee

Dr Stephanie Lee is a Lecturer at the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong, where she imparts her expertise to event management students through courses such as MICE Operation and Management, Event Sustainability, Contemporary Issues in Events, Marketing, and Communications. Her primary research interests include sustainability, well-being, and smart technologies within the context of event tourism. Her research has been published in scholarly journals and renowned publishers, including the Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing, Tourism and Hospitality Research, Event Management, and Routledge. In addition, she serves as a Peer Reviewer for Tourism Recreation Research.

Before pursuing an academic career, Dr Lee amassed over a decade of managerial experience in the event industry across the Asia-Pacific region, working with globally recognized organizations such as Reed Exhibitions, AO Spine Asia Pacific, MIMS, and Pacific World Meetings & Events Hong Kong Limited. She also gained early professional experience through internships at the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and Walt Disney World. This extensive industry background has provided her with a deep and practical understanding of event tourism industry.

The early-bird registration fees (available through October 31st, 2025*) for this course are:

  • US$ 295 per person (GSTC Member**)

After October 31st, 2025:

  • US$ 395 per person (Regular)
  • US$ 355 per person (GSTC Member)

*Please note that the early-bird deadline is 11:59pm UTC+7.
**For GSTC Organization members, the above member discount is available to all staff members and can be used for an unlimited number of times.
