The Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) is pleased to introduce a tailored, co-branded online training course focused on sustainable hospitality, as part of its ongoing partnership with package holiday provider, easyJet holidays. This self-paced course is exclusively available to easyJet’ holidays’ hotel partners, providing a valuable opportunity to deepen their commitment to sustainability.
Specifically designed for hospitality and accommodation professionals, the training provides practical insights into implementing sustainability practices that align with the GSTC Hotel Standard and easyJet holidays’ ESG strategy, Holiday Better. The course features expert presentations, useful resources, and real-life industry examples and lessons, ensuring a rich and actionable learning experience. Additionally, the checklist provided in the course will allow participants to see where they are currently against the GSTC Hotel Standard and set short-term, medium-term and long-term goals.
Participants will be able to enhance their operational and strategic approaches to sustainability by gaining a comprehensive understanding of how to integrate responsible practices into all facets of hotel management.
One of the key purposes of this course is to support easyJet holidays’ hotel partners in meeting global sustainability standards and achieving certification. This tailored, dedicated course is designed to fulfill that purpose and is exclusively available to their hotel partners.
Randy Durband, CEO of GSTC, commented on the partnership: “Training and education each play a distinct role in advancing real sustainability in the hospitality sector. Education builds awareness and understanding of holistic sustainability via the GSTC Standards, while training equips professionals with the practical skills needed to apply those standards effectively. Through this partnership with easyJet holidays, we focus on both, helping hotel professionals turn knowledge into action. Collaborations like this are essential for scaling positive change across the industry and building a more sustainable future for all.”
Matt Callaghan, Chief Operating Officer at easyJet holidays: “We’re proud to be, once again, partnering with the GSTC on this tailored online training course, curated with our brilliant hotel partners in mind.
“Education is a key pillar of our sustainability strategy, Holiday Better, and following the overwhelming response we’ve seen previously to the first phase of training in partnership with the GSTC, we’re confident that this course will be hugely beneficial in helping hotels create a more sustainable operation. We look forward to seeing even more of our hotel partners joining our Certified Sustainable range, and in turn being able to create better holiday choices for our customers.”
Through this initiative, GSTC and easyJet holidays aim to empower easyJet holidays’ hotel partners to take meaningful steps towards sustainable tourism, supporting a responsible future for the industry.

About GSTC
The Global Sustainable Tourism Council® (GSTC®) establishes and manages global sustainable standards, the GSTC Standards, also known as the GSTC Criteria. The GSTC Destination Standard for public policy-makers and destination managers, GSTC Hotel Standard & GSTC Tour Operator Standard, GSTC MICE Standard for Venues, Event Organizers, and Events & Exhibitions, and the GSTC Attraction Standard for tourist attractions such as theme parks, museums, and national parks. These are the guiding principles and minimum requirements that any tourism business or destination should aspire to reach in order to protect and sustain the world’s natural and cultural resources while ensuring tourism meets its potential as a tool for conservation and poverty alleviation.
The GSTC Standards form the foundation for GSTC’s assurance role for Certification Bodies that certify hotels/accommodations, tour operators, and destinations as having sustainable policies and practices in place. GSTC does not directly certify any products or services but provides accreditation to those that do.
GSTC is an independent and neutral USA-registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization that represents a diverse and global membership, including national and provincial governments, leading travel companies, hotels, tour operators, NGOs, individuals and communities – all striving to achieve best practices in sustainable tourism. The GSTC is an ISEAL Community Member, a global membership organization for ambitious, collaborative, and transparent sustainability systems.
