The first GSTC Sustainable MICE Online Course took place from March 17 to March 30, 2025, bringing together professionals from across the globe to explore how sustainability can be effectively integrated into the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. The course was led by GSTC Trainers Stephanie Lee and Julia Spangler, who shared their knowledge and expertise through engaging presentations, practical examples, and valuable insights.
Over the two-week period, the GSTC Sustainable MICE Course equipped 44 participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to champion sustainable tourism practices within the MICE industry. Participants had the opportunity to explore the GSTC MICE Standard for Venues, Event Organizers, and Events & Exhibitions, known previously as GSTC MICE Criteria, which aim to serve as the global sustainability standards for the industry and were created to provide a common understanding of sustainable tourism in the MICE industry throughout the world. By combining theory with real-world case studies from both global and local contexts, the course offered a comprehensive and hands-on learning experience, enabling participants to apply sustainability principles in their own professional settings.
This interactive course not only strengthened participants’ understanding of sustainability challenges and opportunities but also fostered meaningful connections among industry peers committed to driving positive change.
