The revision process of the GSTC Destination Standard version 2.0 has officially begun, marking a new milestone in its continuous evolution since its formal release in December 2013. This revision phase opens a structured consultation process aimed at ensuring the Standard remains relevant, robust, and aligned with the evolving realities of sustainable tourism and destination management.
We are now officially opening the process and invite all stakeholders, including public authorities, destination managers, tourism boards, industry representatives, and civil society, to actively participate and contribute their expertise, perspectives, and on-the-ground experience.
According to the GSTC Destination Standard Revision Terms of Reference, the revision schedule is as follows:
- February 2026: Announcement through publication of the Terms of Reference
- February 2 2026: First public consultation
- June 2026: Second public consultation
- October 2026: Feasibility assessment
- January 2027: Third public consultation
- May 2027: Announcement of the final revised version
