GSTC Sustainable Tourism Course for SENECAThe GSTC Online Sustainable Tourism Course (STC) was delivered for SENECA SEDE (Sustainable Economic Development and Employment), the sector network of the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) focused on sustainable economic development and employment across Europe, the Caucasus, Central Asia, and Afghanistan. The network promotes professional exchange of knowledge and experience among its members and contributes to strengthening GIZ’s service delivery.

SENECA SEDE currently brings together more than 40 member projects across 11 countries, along with several regional initiatives reflecting the full scope of GIZ’s portfolio. To structure its work more effectively, thematic working groups were established, and within the Working Group on Rural Economic Development, sector-specific sub-groups address Tourism and Agriculture.

Participants in this online course all had direct experience and professional responsibilities related to tourism. During the live sessions, they discussed the application of the GSTC Standards in their respective roles and destinations, exchanged perspectives on existing initiatives and on implementation challenges and opportunities.

The course was delivered by Diana Körner and Matthias Beyer, both GSTC Trainers, with Halil Burak Sakal participating as a guest speaker. Held online from 2 October to 28 October 2025, the course provided a structured program for professional exchange, culminating in a shared reflection on the application of the GSTC Standards across diverse regional and institutional contexts.

All GSTC courses are available for private groups and can be customized accordingly. For more information, contact us at training[@]gstc.org
