The MICE sector is increasingly integrating sustainability into its planning and operations, driven by evolving industry expectations and the need for more responsible and sustainable practices. In this context, having clear, practical frameworks is essential to support consistent, measurable implementation.
The GSTC MICE Standard was launched last year (for Venues, Event Organizers, and Events & Exhibitions) and was previously known as the GSTC MICE Criteria. It aims to serve as the global sustainability standard for the industry and was created to provide a common understanding of sustainable tourism in the MICE industry throughout the world.
By aligning with the GSTC MICE Standard, stakeholders can ensure a consistent approach to sustainability, improve operational efficiency, strengthen reputational value, and respond to increasing expectations from clients, partners, and participants while contributing to more responsible event practices and supporting the long term resilience of the meetings and events sector.
To support the adoption and understanding of the Standard, GSTC will host an upcoming webinar in Spanish titled “From Theory to Practice: Applying the GSTC MICE Standard in Events” (“De la teoría a la práctica: Aplicando el Estándar GSTC para MICE en eventos”)

This webinar in Spanish will provide a practical introduction to the GSTC MICE Standard, including its structure, key components, and real-world applications. Participants will gain insights into how the Standard can be applied across different types of events and contexts, supported by case studies that demonstrate tangible benefits. The webinar in Spanish is open to all audiences and is particularly relevant for tourism and event professionals, destinations, Convention Bureaus, congress organizers, venues, exhibition organizers, suppliers, public authorities, and anyone interested in advancing sustainability in the meetings industry.
